Celebrating Pentecost
For us at Dignity/Chicago, Pentecost is a powerful celebration of the Holy Spirit’s presence in the Church and in the lives of all believers. The feast commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles, empowering them to share the Gospel across languages, cultures, and communities.
LGBTQ+ Catholics often find special meaning in Pentecost’s message of inclusion, diversity, and unity, seeing the Spirit’s gifts at work in the unique experiences and talents of every person. As the Church celebrates its birth at Pentecost, LGBTQ+ Catholics join in prayer and worship, giving thanks for God’s unconditional love and seeking the courage to live authentically, build welcoming communities, and participate fully in the mission of the Church.
