In states like Kansas, lawmakers recently passed measures that invalidate updated gender markers on IDs and limit where transgender people can safely exist in public and private spaces, reinforcing exclusion and erasure of identity. In Florida, long-standing laws such as the Fairness in Women’s Sports Act and broader political efforts reflect an environment where trans people’s rights are contested and under threat.
